The Social Justice and Health Equity Art Installation at FHKY

In celebration of our 25th anniversary, we are establishing an art installation in our building dedicated to social justice and health equity.

This installation is open to amateur (including students) and professional artists. More details for interested artists about the installation are below.

Overview

The FHKY Art Installation seeks to showcase thought-provoking work that explores social injustice and health equity issues facing Kentucky and its inhabitants. Examples of these issues include but are not limited to; inequities caused by power imbalances, racism, and unfair resource distribution. Also, social determinants of health, such as housing, education, and economic stability, etc.

Artwork will be displayed throughout the 20,000 sq. ft. office building, including the FHKY office suite, Board Room, Training Room, and coworking space known as (c)space. Participating artists will receive a stipend ($100) for exhibiting their work and will also have the option to list pieces as available for purchase during the installation.

Visibility & Promotion

In addition to a public showcase event, artwork will be viewed by a steady flow of people in our building space, including coworking tenants and individuals and organizations who utilize our conference and training facilities—offering artists meaningful exposure and the opportunity to connect with potential buyers. While building access is primarily limited to tenants and scheduled visitors, this ensures consistent visibility among engaged audiences. Please note: the FHKY office suite gets less foot traffic than the rest of the building, meaning less views from potential buyers. If you would prefer not being placed in this area of the building, please inform FHKY when you submit a proposal.

Our Address: 1640 Lyndon Farm Court, Suite 100, Louisville, KY 40223

How to Submit & Timeline

We invite individual artists or groups (with a designated contact person) to submit proposals or already finished pieces for consideration for the installation. All submitted artwork must be original and align with the theme of social justice and health equity and must be a two-dimensional (2-D) wall hanging (e.g., painting, photography, drawing, prints, tapestry, mixed media). Your proposal or submission should include:

  1. Contact information (name, e-mail, phone number).

  2. Bio or CV

  3. A brief description of the proposed piece along with digital images or an online portfolio featuring examples of the artist’s work. For already-finished works, include a brief description and digital images of the piece.

  4. A list of titles, dimensions, and media.

Selections will be based on how well submissions align with the theme and fit within our available wall spaces, with placement prioritized as submissions are received. Art can range from small to extra-large pieces. FHKY will provide a $100 stipend for each accepted proposal following completion of the Exhibition Agreement Form.

Submissions should be emailed to Hayley Smith at hsmith@healthy-ky.org with the subject line of “Art Installation Submission.”
