There’s a lot of misunderstanding and misinformation about what “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” (DEI) really means and who it benefits. Too often, DEI is portrayed as divisive or unfair. This false narrative about DEI is harmful and anti-DEI policies will likely worsen our health disparities.

We created this resource kit to help shift the conversation and take the “boogeyman” out of DEI. It is possible for programs to support underserved communities without taking anything away from anyone else. In fact, when we remove barriers for some, we often make things better for everyone.

We hope organizations can use these tools to spark meaningful discussions and open the door to greater understanding of the many ways DEI supports better health and well-being for all Kentuckians.
