Katy joined the Foundation in January of 2022 as a Policy Associate. Prior to joining the Foundation, she was the Policy & Advocacy Coordinator at the Louisiana Center for Children’s Rights. During Katy's five years there, she advocated for policy change at the state and local level to reduce the incarceration of kids. She is especially proud of the legislative campaigns she helped lead to gain mechanisms of release for individuals serving life without parole and other extreme sentences. Katy began her career advancing progressive policies at the Federal level at Fight Crime: Invest in Kids in Washington D.C. After twenty years away, she is excited to return to Kentucky to put her skills and experience to work for her home state.
Katy earned her BA in Government and History from Smith College, and a PhD in History with a concentration in Atlantic and Legal History from New York University.
